Chinese
Landscape Paintings - Summer Mountains: 2009 Deluxe Wall
Calendar
Beginning as early as the fourth century
and continuing today, Chinese painters have combined
observation of nature with study of artistic tradition,
producing visually rich and culturally significant work. Some
painters have explored effects achieved through precision and
detail, while others have emphasized spontaneity and
simplicity. This calendar features work from the Jin
(1206–1234), Ming (1368–1644), and Qing (1644–1911)
dynasties, as well as from postdynastic China (1912 and
thereafter), representing more than seven hundred years of
Chinese excellence in painting.
